Here is an excellent video clip with music and some interesting footage in and around the trenches in World War I. I can tell some of this footage is in Western Europe, while other parts are either at Gallipoli or the middle east. Keep in mind that many of these soldiers were not much older than most of you. Also keep in mind, that while it seems like a long time ago, it really wasn't that long ago, when you look at the greater scheme of time. There are still a few veterans of the war alive today, including 1 American. Of course they are extremely old and won't be around much longer. When I was younger, it wasn't uncommon to know, or at least know of, a living WWI veteran. Another interesting thing when looking at history and time- it wasn't uncommon, when my mother was a child, to know a Civil War veteran.
